How to Set Up Services

5 min readBeginner

Create your service menu with categories and pricing. Once set up, building quotes becomes lightning-fast.

Your services are what you sell. Setting them up once makes quote creation lightning-fast. Organised categories help you stay efficient, and prices set here become defaults that you can always adjust per quote.

Understanding the Structure

Services are organised into categories. For example:

Bridal

  • Bridal Hair & Makeup (£350)
  • Bridal Hair Only (£150)
  • Bridal Makeup Only (£200)

Bridal Party

  • Bridesmaid Hair & Makeup (£85)
  • Mother of the Bride (£95)
  • Flower Girl (£45)

When creating quotes, you click a category to see its services, then click to add them.

Step 1: Access Service Settings

Navigate to Settings from the sidebar and find the Services section. Here you can view your existing categories and services, and add new ones.

Step 2: Creating a Category

Click Add Category and enter a name like "Bridal" or "Trials". Keep category names short and clear.

Suggested categories for hair and makeup artists:

  • Bridal
  • Bridal Party
  • Trials
  • Add-ons
  • Travel

Order categories by how often you use them, with the most common at the top.

Step 3: Adding Services to a Category

Find a category and click Add Service. Enter the service name (e.g. "Bridal Hair & Makeup") and the default price (e.g. 350.00).

Pro Tip: Be specific with service names. "Bridal Hair & Makeup" is clearer than just "Bridal".

Step 4: Setting Prices

Set your standard price as the default. Remember, prices can always be adjusted per quote or booking.

Pricing strategies:

  • All-inclusive: One price covers everything
  • Base + Add-ons: Core service with optional extras
  • Tiered: Good/Better/Best options at different price points

Step 5: Organising and Reordering

Drag and drop to reorder categories. Put your most-used categories at the top for faster quote creation. You can also reorder services within each category.

The order here is the order they appear in the quote builder.

Step 6: Editing and Deactivating Services

Click any service to edit its name or price. Toggle Active to hide a service without deleting it, which is useful for seasonal services or ones you're temporarily not offering.

Inactive services remain on existing quotes and bookings but won't appear in the quote builder for new work.

When to deactivate vs delete:

  • Deactivate: Seasonal service, temporarily unavailable
  • Delete: Mistake, never actually offered this service
